For generations, we’ve lived, raised our families and farmed within the Texas coastal communities we call home. It's here, in the heart of the Texas Gulf Coast, where our passion for the finest quality farm-raised seafood was cultivated. And it’s where we've called home for generations.
Our farms and facilities are located amid the storied agricultural and fishing communities along Matagorda Bay and on the nearby coastal plains, where the salty breeze always blows. We have an inherent respect for and shared connection with the land we farm and the natural resources we use. Guided by the past, and with an eye toward the future, we aim to continue our tradition of cultivating the highest standard of farm-raised seafood for generations to come.Giving back is something we’re passionate about because it makes our communities stronger. So we’re committed to supporting a wide variety of local programs, clubs and non-profits that make a meaningful community impact. Homegrown proudly contributes to charitable organizations that provide educational programs, disaster relief, help for victims of domestic violence, child safety initiatives, quality of life improvement for area youth, and much more.
Many of our team members are personally involved, through contributions and volunteer opportunities, with several of the same organizations, as well as a variety of others. On any given week, you’ll find our Homegrown family coaching little league sports, volunteering with animal rescue organizations, serving as volunteer firefighters, chairing fundraising committees, serving as members of local school boards, The Rotary Club or Knights of Columbus, and much more.1989 Bowers Shrimp Farm is founded by Harold Bowers.
